Cat-a-log

Catalog is a real-time platform that helps volunteers identify, track, and care for community cats in seconds—not hours—by streamlining field updates into one simple, intuitive system.
The Problem
The Challenge: A Race Against Time
The dedicated volunteers at Boon Lay Youth Network (BLYN) took the initiative to build their own tracking system using AppSheet, a testament to their commitment. This system has been crucial for organising their efforts on the ground.
However, as the program has grown, the on-the-ground reality of feeding sessions, managing food, observing animals, and logging data simultaneously has highlighted opportunities for a more specialised tool. The current process involves navigating multiple steps across different apps to locate a cat's profile and log an update.
4 in 5 volunteers found the current app difficult to use during feeding sessions*
This multi-step process, while a great foundation, can create a sense of urgency, forcing volunteers to choose between feeding the cats promptly and capturing every detail. They worry that even small delays in logging could impact a cat needing timely care.
These operational challenges can lead to wider issues, such as missed medical care for injuries, inconsistent feeding schedules, and cats going unaccounted for entirely.

Our Solution
Our Vision: Get help to a cat in seconds, not hours
Catalog connects community volunteers with real-time information about the cats they care for. By consolidating all cat profiles and status updates onto a single, intuitive platform, Catalog makes it easy for volunteers to track, identify, and log information in one place, directly from the field.
Help a community Cats in three easy steps
Spot: See a community cat during your rounds.
Identify: Instantly find the cat's profile using powerful filters and clear visual badges like Recently Spotted.
Log: Update its status in seconds with a simple, one-tap form, ensuring its health and location are always current.
Current Product Focus: Empowering On-the-Ground Volunteers
The efficiency of community cat care is determined by the volunteer's experience in the field. A slow, frustrating process can lead to delayed care for an animal in need.
Therefore, our initial focus is on solving the biggest bottleneck in the workflow: the time it takes for a volunteer to identify a specific cat and log its status accurately. By perfecting this on-the-ground experience for BLYN volunteers, Catalog can deliver the greatest immediate impact on animal welfare, creating a scalable model that can be adopted by other welfare groups.
